La instalación, que presentará el Thyssen incluirá los cinco grandes lienzos del ciclo 'El proscrito deslumbrante' de Roberto Matta y reproducirá el modo en que el artista los montó en su primera presentación al público en la Galerie Alexandre Iolas de París en 1966.
El artista chileno presentó esta serie con su sistema de "cubo abierto", una especie de políptico de la era contemporánea con que creaba una caja destinada a envolver al espectador. Dos de ellos se mostraban horizontalmente suspendidos en el techo, cerrando el espacio creado por los otros tres. Con este espectacular montaje, Matta conseguía sumergir al espectador en su universo pictórico, un universo hermético y alucinatorio, cargado de referencias literarias, espirituales y artísticas.
Cuarenta y cinco años más tarde y con motivo del centenario del nacimiento del artista, que se conmemora en 2011, el ciclo se volverá a presentar en su esplendor original.

The new installation of the five large canvases of the series The blinding Exile by Roberto Matta from the Museum’s Permanent Collection reflects the way that the artist hung it for its first presentation at the Alexandre Iolas Gallery in Paris in 1966.
ResponderEliminarThe Chilean artist Matta presented this series using his “open cube” system. The result was a type of modern polyptych that created a box which enveloped the viewer. Two of the canvases were displayed horizontally, suspended from the ceiling and closing the space created by the other three. Through this spectacular installation Matta submerged the viewer in his pictorial universe, which was hermetic, hallucinatory and filled with literary, spiritual and artistic references.
